Featuring Runde's Room: Math Journal Sundays

For awhile now I have been following Runde's Room:  Math Journal Sundays.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jen's ideas on math journals and foldables.  My goal is to use math journals more in the future.  Right now my kids have J.A.M journals or Journal About Math.  Just a plain spiral notebook with the JAM label on the front.  I love making kids guess what the JAM stands for.  A lot of kids get close but I can typically stump them on this one.

I use the JAM now as a way for kids to take notes.  Plain, boring notes. I want to make them more interactive using foldables and such.  I highly suggest you head on over to Math Journal Sundays to get some great ideas on how to use interactive hands-on math journals.  Thanks for the ideas Jen!

  1. I'm obsessed with Math Journal Sundays too! So many great ideas. I'm already putting ideas in the bank for next year when I plan on having some pretty kickin' math journals. Love the JAM idea. That sounds much more fun than just Math Journal. I will probably have to steal that. :) ~Amanda @ The Teaching Thief

  2. WOW! Thanks, Mary!!! I agree with Amanda - I LOVE the JAM title - much better than plain old Math Journals. ;) Knowing I have to do a post every Sunday has kept me thinking of ideas for the journals all week - every week. This week we didn't get a foldable in until the last 1/2 hour on Friday. And even though we usually have gym at that time, the kids didn't complain at all when I told them we were going to do our math journals instead. The journals MUST be a hit!!!

  4. Love the name and the fact that you make the students guess what it stands for! I can so see students driven nuts by not knowing. =)
